Upload Project Locations and Assets

You can upload project locations and assets in bulk using the project locations template.

Field View provides a template you can download and fill for purposes of uploading in bulk.

If you already have a file ready to upload, you can skip steps 3 and 4.
Locations records in Field View define each unique location within your project, and plan drawings help mobile device users navigate around those locations. Within Field View, locations and plan drawings are sometimes referred to as geometry.

Adding locations can be done manually within Field View or by uploading them in bulk using the MS Excel project locations template. These instructions show you how to download the template and upload the locations and plans in bulk.

  1. Confirm you're working in the correct project.
  2. Select the menu icon in the upper left corner, then choose Project Setup. Select Drawings.
  3. Select Drawing Calibration.
  4. If needed, download the template by selecting the Download Geometry down arrow icon.
    Note:
    • Do not rename the file.
    • Do not skip rows.
    • Do not delete, move, or rename any of the columns.
  5. Open the template, edit it according to the included instructions, and save it.
  6. Select the Upload Geometry up arrow icon.
  7. Browse to your saved file, select it, and choose Open.

When complete, an upload summary appears, indicating the number of rows inserted, updated, and failed.

  8. Select Continue.
The locations hierarchy and any associated assets and plan drawings now display in the Locations pane of the Drawing Calibration screen. Select a location to expand and see the tiers of locations and associated assets. You can also upload plan drawings separately and link them to the locations.
If you did not upload plan drawings along with the locations and assets, add plan drawings next. See Upload or Replace a Drawing.
