Grid Icon and Keyboard Reference

The following tables explain the icons and keyboard shortcuts you can use to customize the appearance of grids.

Description

Opens a lookup list.

Displays a drop-down list (in a drop-down field) or a date picker (in a date field).

Displays details on a row in a grid. Some grids allow you to view the data in a row in a "card view." A card view shows the notable information for row on a single screen, eliminating the need to scroll back and forth. Other grids allow you to drill down to a more detailed of the data in a row.

Opens a field chooser that allows you to select the columns that appear in a grid or a lookup list.

Adds a row to a grid.

Removes a row from a grid.

Displays the Customize Grids pane. (No need to click, just mouse over.) Not available on all grids.

"Pins" the pane so that it displays at all times.

"Unpins" the pane so that it displays when you mouse over its tab.

Keyboard Reference

Ctrl + Down

Displays the card view for a row.

Ctrl + Up

Hides the card view for a row.

Insert

Inserts a new line in the grid.

Ctrl + Insert

Inserts a child row into the sub grid (in other words, nested grid) for the selected parent row. For example, if you are using the Project Billing Details popup window in the Project screen and you are tracking revenue by project cost code, you can use the Ctrl + Insert shortcut to add a new row into the nested cost code grid for a selected billing code. Or, if you are adding a distribution line to an invoice, you can use the Ctrl + Insert shortcut to add a new row into the nested tax detail grid.

Down

If the last line in a grid is active, exits the grid.

Ctrl+V

Pastes data copied from Excel into a grid in the interface when the columns in Excel match the columns displayed in the grid.
